ABSTRACT
Sumba Island is one of the islands located in East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT). Sumba Island has one large River Area which is included in the River Area across districts/cities, namely the Sumba River Area which is divided into 130 Watersheds. The purpose of this paper is to create a form of database modeling to make it easier for the wider community to access data. Each watershed has different shapes, areas and watershed characteristics. On Sumba Island, there are 3 (three) types of watershed shapes, namely parallel, elongated and radial. Radial and elongated watershed shapes are the most predominant watershed shapes. The method used is a quantitative method, where the recapped data will be tabulated. The number of watersheds in the Sumba River Region is quite large so that a data-based modeling is needed to classify watershed characteristics. Modeling or mapping of this Geographic Information System (GIS)-based database uses ArcGIS software which is an application that can map an area. The benefit of this research is to produce database modeling based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) related to the characteristics of watersheds on Sumba Island, where this can make it easier and help future researchers and the general public in obtaining geographic information data about watershed characteristics on Sumba Island.
