ABSTRACT
Coffee grounds are organic waste generated from the processing of coffee beans, such as in coffee shops. This waste can be used as a substitute for filler material in asphalt mixtures due to its pozzolanic properties and silica content. This study uses coffee grounds ash as a partial replacement for Portland cement filler with variations of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The coffee grounds used were burned and sieved using a No. 200 sieve. The research was conducted using the Marshall method, with Portland cement filler and coffee grounds ash content of 6.0%, using five variations of filler content: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The results of the Marshall characteristics test with the 50% coffee grounds ash variation showed a stability value of 1515.87 kg at 5.5% asphalt content. The wear test of the specimen was conducted using the Cantabro Test method. The results of the Cantabro Test with 5.7% asphalt content yielded wear values of 1.12%, 1.44%, and 1%. Based on these test results, the silica content in coffee grounds affects the asphalt mixture and can improve the surface durability of the road against vehicle wheel friction.
