ABSTRACT
Road condition assessment is carried out to plan a road maintenance program. Two popular methods often used are the International Roughness Index (IRI) and the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) which are used as a reference for assessing road surface conditions. However, both can result in different assessments of road surface conditions. Therefore, this research is important to determine the comparison between the two. The study was conducted on the border road of Central Sulawesi, Surumana - Pasangkayu, West Sulawesi Province, which is a 51.530 km western cross-national road. Analysis of road conditions was carried out in a 100 m segment from STA 280+628 to STA 332+058. The Mata Garuda vehicle equipped with laser profiler capabilities was used for the survey to assess the state of the road surface. The analysis results show that a sufficient fit was obtained and IRI has a significant effect on PCI, so the IRI value can be used to predict PCI. However, it is necessary to find a measurement method that can improve the compatibility of both to a good or very good category.
